First off, I want to thank you for always supporting me. You have always been there for me, through thick and thin. I know in the past I haven't always been your biggest fan. I talked down to you. I made fun of you. I mistreated you. Rest assured that things have changed.
Now more than ever I love you! I love that I can workout and lift weights. I love that I can walk a mile and feel good afterwards. I love that this body allows me to dance to a cumbia or twirl because I'm happy! I love that I can pick up my dogs to cuddle. I love that I can hug my loved ones as tightly as I can. All these things are possible because of the body that I have.
Have you taken inventory on how you treat your body? Do you thank yourself for the things you can do? Do you challenge yourself to do better? Or are you constantly criticizing yourself? I'll be the first to admit that I have beaten myself up with negative self talk. I've abused my body by being sedentary and questionable food choices. Regardless, everyday I try to be better and do better. Our thoughts become our words. Our words become our actions. And our actions have consequences, whether positive or otherwise. Choose wisely.
This is the only body we will have so we must take care of it. Here are some ways taking care of your body may look like (remember we are all different so feel free to add to this list):
- getting adequate sleep
- setting boundaries
- drinking water/staying hydrated
- practicing yoga
- taking prescribed medications
- meal planning
- staying away from toxic people
- speaking affirmations to yourself
- whatever your body needs
